ANGER (See Bitterness)
ANIMALS
God says that mankind is “much better” than the animals and we are to have “dominion over” them (Matthew 10:31 and Psalm 8:4–8). We may eat all manner of meat if it be received with thanksgiving (Acts 10:10–15; Romans 14:1–6; and 1 Timothy 4:3–4). The Bible teaches we can learn things from both animals and insects, as all are God’s creation.
Proverbs 6:6–8: “Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise.”
Proverbs 28:1: “The righteous are bold as a lion.”
Proverbs 30:27: “The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands.”
Matthew 7:15: “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”
Matthew 10:16: “Be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.”
ANNIHILATION (see HELL)
ANOINTING
Can be by the Holy Spirit (Acts 10:38; 1 John 2:27) or with oil on one’s forehead, as a sign of respect (Luke 7:46). Also for an office as king or high priest (2 Samuel 5:3), and when we pray for the sick to be healed (James 5:14; see HEALING).
