HAIR
Is God concerned about our hair? “But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered” (Luke 12:7). This verse was given to show God’s concern and love for us. Men’s hair and women’s hair are not to be the same: “Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?” But for women, “if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering” (1 Corinthians 11:14–15). God purposely did not give the length so we would not walk around with a rule and measure hair to see who was “sinning.” But this should not be used as an excuse to get around these verses. But we should live within the spirit of what was taught, that the hair length of men and women were to be opposite of each other.
“Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price” (1 Peter 3:3–4). When it says “not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair,” it is not saying that women could not fix their hair, as it also says the same about clothes, not the “putting on of apparel,” and obviously God wants us clothed. But God was saying women should put the emphasis on the inside (“adorning let it not be that outward adorning”), but on the inside “of the heart.”
