SCIENCE
“O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: Which some professing have erred concerning the faith” (1 Timothy 6:20–21). Many a young person has gone off to college believing the Bible, only to return with his or her faith shaken or stolen by false teachings of likeable and witty professors who had no faith. “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ” (Colossians 2:8). In Genesis, there is a law of reproduction that says everything produces “after his kind.” I would like to make a spiritual application from this: lost professors will not strengthen your faith but can only give what they have, which is doubt. Everything produces “after his kind.”
I am not against true science or higher education, but why be taught by teachers who do not believe when you can have a Bible-centered education (2 Timothy 2:15)? Thankfully, there are Bible colleges today that offer majors in practically every field, taught by professors who start every class with prayer and are guided by God’s Word.
An example of a modern-day false science would be the theory of evolution. The human body is far too complex to have come about by random or chance mutations. Christ was not lying when He said, “For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved” (John 3:20). If someone does not want to turn his life over to God, he will not listen to teachings about how he was created by God; he will not come “to the light.” There is a built-in resistance to and a suppression of truth about creation because it points to our Creator, which points to our need to be accountable to Him. It is more than an argument in a biology classroom about who is right or who is wrong. What one believes will affect the way one lives and views himself and his surrounding world. There are many online sites that present scientific creationism and show the errors of evolution (see CREATION).
