SUFFERING
Someone asked, “Where was God when my son died?” The same place He was when His Son died. This earth is not heaven, and we cannot expect everything to go our way, but there is coming a day when: “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away” (Revelation 21:4). “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds” (Hebrews 12:2–3). “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ” (2 Timothy 2:3). “Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer…” (Romans 12:12). Tell Jesus your sufferings. Remember He also suffered (Hebrews 4:14–16). “Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted” (Matthew 5:4). The Holy Spirit is the “Comforter,” and God wants to comfort you if you will let Him. Ask God to comfort you. (John 14:15–18; see COMFORT)
