Strong’s gives for “quiet”: “quiet, tranquil.” Isaiah 32:17 says, “And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.” God wants us to enjoy our time and fellowship with Him, and the world makes some so agitated, they need to calm down. “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). “But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price” (1 Peter 3:4). We are instructed to pray for “all that are in authority; that we lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness” (1 Timothy 2:2).
