“But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart” (Matthew 5:28). The purpose of pornography is to cause mental adultery. It is a form of prostitution as women are paid to take their clothes off, and it is addictive and ruins the spirit of marriage. If you have it in your home, the chances are your children have already seen it.
Anything, any place, or any person, that causes one to fall into this sin should be avoided. Romans 13:14 says, “Make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.” Be careful what you allow in your heart: “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23). “Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children” (2 Peter 2:14). “The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness” (Matthew 6:22–23).“That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind” (Ephesians 4:22–23). For those who are trying to overcome this, it would be good to memorize the above verses.
There are those who cannot stop thinking about certain ungodly things, not just pornography. There are many that have lost control of their thought life but by the grace of God have been given back control (Romans 8:4–7). But the one who does this will have to get his “spiritual compass” pointed towards God. He cannot play games with God but must “sell out for the Lord,” and not just till he gets help, but for the rest of his life (please see OVERCOME EVIL WITH GOOD; also see THOUGHT LIFE).
