CREATION
“All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made” (John 1:3). This is in reference to Jesus Christ (see vv. 1 and 14 in the same chapter). “All things were created by him, and for him” (Colossians 1:16, again in reference to Jesus Christ; see v. 13 same chapter). You and I were made “by” Christ and “for him.” Revelation 4:11 says, “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”
Christ believed the creation account as given in Genesis chapter one (Matthew 19:4). If we cannot believe the first chapter of the Bible (the foundation), then how can we trust the rest? Nor was it “theistic evolution” (see THEISTIC EVOLUTION; see GAP THEORY) that teaches God used evolution to create. Eve was made from the rib of a man during the “evening and the morning”--no time for evolution (Genesis 1:23–31). Chapter two of Genesis is a retelling of the creation account of man but with more detail.
Evolution is not just an argument in a biology class; it affects the way one lives. Are we a product of chance mutations, a higher form of animal? If so, what do we do when we have too many animals or they are old? If you are not an accident, then you were made with a purpose. You look the way you look, have the IQ you have, are the race you are, the height you are, have the hair and eye color you have, all because God made you and He loves you exactly the way you are. Self-acceptance is much easier when we realize we were made by God, and He has a purpose for our lives. You are an original; no one else in the world is exactly like you.
According to evolution, it was millions of years from reptiles to the first bird that got off the ground. The mechanics for evolution is survival of the fittest, so that if a mutation is beneficial, it is passed on to the next generation. But what benefit is it for a reptile to have a small wing, part of a wing, or even half of one if it does not work? It is in fact a detriment, as it makes it easier prey for any other animal that would be chasing it for food while it drags its useless wing behind it. There would be no benefit until the day “millions” of years later when the wing would finally work. Where did man get his conscience from? Did he get it from animals? If so, where did they get it? From dirt? The human body is far too complex to have come about by chance mutations. Christian bookstores will have books on creationism, and a number of sites online will explain the problems with evolution. We did not come from animals. I cannot vouch for each site or persons individual beliefs but give these out as a resource. See the following:
